In honor of Indiana, have a miller light today. Caught drinking anything else here (at least according to my family) is just not right. In NYC it is hard to get at a bar, and if you can get it it's about $6-8. I'll enjoy mine here for $2.50.
I was surprised when you wrote that Miller Lite has become the staple beer of Indiana. I would have expected it to be Falstaff, which was brewed in Fort Wayne, among other places. But then I discovered from this fan website that Falstaff joined the legion of "fallen flags" in 2005.
My dad was a Hoosier, born and raised near Evansville. When he was a young man, a local favorite was Griesedieck Bros. beer. He said a friend of his would make a waitress blush by asking for a "Slippery Richard; excuse me, I meant Greasy Dick." The poor woman needed some lessons in proper waitress attitude. Griesedieck was later acquired by Falstaff, who wisely retired the name.

I never ordered Miller Lite at a NYC bar, I'm a cranberry/vodka gal!
